Do You Have any Questions for Dosh Dosh?
Information is more valuable when it fulfills a specific need or desire. People search the internet precisely to acquire knowledge on various topics and gratification of their informational needs will encourage visitor loyalty.
I’ve been writing articles on Dosh Dosh for a while and apart from the running of some polls, I’ve never directly addressed any possible opinions or queries you all might have.
So let’s do some Q & A. If you have any questions related to topics covered on Dosh Dosh (see my categories), please leave a comment or send me an email.
The questions and answers will be published in the form of blog posts on Dosh Dosh so make sure that you don’t mind your question being made public. Do also include your name and site URL if you want a credit link; no worries if you don’t.
I would prefer to answer general questions on a specific topic instead of providing a reply tailored to suit your website, because I’m trying to make all the questions and answers relevant for everyone.
Do also note that I will not be able to answer every question I receive, as some of them may be repetitions of other questions or irrelevant to my personal interests or blog theme. So please don’t feel offended if your question isn’t answered. ^_^
To be very honest, sometimes I run out of ideas on things to write about and your questions will be quite helpful when I don’t have any articles lined up. If I have the time, I’ll try to do at least one question each day for this week.
If you’ve never commented on Dosh Dosh before, this is a good time to start. ![]()

Not sure if this has been covered before, but for a blogger like myself, it is very useful and interesting to hear the path taken by other successful blogs in order to reach where they are currently. Would you care to share on your journey, how long it took and where the turning point was? Cheers.
I think that’s a great idea to talk about “Lifesperspective”. I’m sure everyone would want to know how Dosh Dosh grew and became such a popular and successful blog.
Not pretty relevant here, but may I know why there is a picture of an anime character on every of your blog post? Where do you get them, won’t you run out of them?
Vincent, here!

I was wondering if you feel that it is better to have multiple blogs on specific areas, or a single blog that covers many facets?
I am a data warehouse architect - have nearly qualified as a lawyer and am very interested in all other areas of technology. Should I mix up pieces on programming, with legal issues and gadget reviews - or should I create three different blogs, one for each area?
This blog has fast become one of my favorites. Your articles take a more official and in-depth tone that most other “make money online” blogs do not.
Thanks for being a great resource. I hope to do the same some day.
What does Dosh Dosh mean?
Why the cartoons?
You say you don’t code or design… who does it for you? Can you recommend someone who works well with WordPress themes, economically.
How do you apply your public relations skills to internet marketing?
Do you surf?
I would like to know if you could cover the topic of beginning a blog to make money. Something grouping all the steps one should follow (maybe you could make it a series?).
What is one of the biggest mistakes you made with your blog(s) in the very beginning?
Great idea Maki, I hope you get lots of interesting questions.
I have a couple of questions,
How much does DoshDosh make from advertising?
What are your opinions about Group writing projects? Are you planning on having one in the future?
Personally I think a Dosh Dosh group writing project would be great for us all, not to mention rocketing Dosh Dosh to the stars with everyone talking about it.
If you answer them, please credit Blogging Figners.
Hello,
1. Did you make a reasonable income using google adsense?
2. what is the best affiliate program that you think it worths spending time on?
3. How long have you been blogging?
4. Roughly what did you make per month?
Thank you
In the earliest stages of a site (Dosh dosh for example), what are some of the main things you concentrate on?
My question is irrelevant though. I am wondering why many people are doing make money online blogs even before they can’t really make a cent
Could you please post an update to your 7 Day Niche project? How are the sites doing now?
Thanks for all posts, Maki. I enjoy reading your posts, thoughts etc… I sometimes wonder how you get these ideas. My one request is about Web 2.0 style. Can you make a tutorial or post how to create web 2.0 style websites? It will be helpful for many users.. Keep the good work. Thanks.
Hi Maki,
From reading your bio page, you seem pretty busy being a student, running a blog, reading….My questions are, how much time do you spend running Dosh Dosh and what approach do you take to producing articles quickly?
Here’s something else I’d like to know: What are your top three methods for promoting Dosh Dosh? And if you don’t do much promotion now, what were your top three methods when you first began?
Thanks for this chance to pick your brains.
P.S. Since I live just down the 401, any chance I could bribe you with free food or drink to meet one-on-one :-)?
Enjoyed your in depth articles. Would be great if you could share with us how to get the plug-ins for your site and also touch on how to identify topics for a blog - how to brand our blogs?
Thanks!
Where do you see this blog 2 years from now?
Belonging to someone else?
Evolved into something noticeably different?
Much the same but more widely read?
I guess I could re-phrase this as are you writing this as do you blog just for personal gratification, or are you trying to take it somewhere specific?
Nosy aren’t I?
I’d like to know if you are really a Manga/anime fan, or if you just use the images because you like the pictures. What first attracted me to this blog was those images because I’m a big fan of anime, but I’m never quite sure why you use them.
How about posting some methods of making money outside blogging?
Do you have any recommendations for keeping traffic from dropping off during the weekends?
Does anyone find it offensive or anything of the sort if you are not a blog but appear to be running similiar to one in the sense you update it daily, but are a magazine to be referred to as a blogger?
Do you think you are taken less seriously?
Hi maki,
Can you please post a topic on how to style headers on a adsense optimised prosense theme. I am using your theme but wasnt exactly able to figure it out on how to style the header, plz advice. You can take at my present blog look at http://www.smartdesis.com
I have a blog which I was surprised to see more highly ranked than my web site. Do you think web sites are dead? Is it that there is continual input into a blog that Google ranks them better or do they?
I’ve been posting to my site for about 5 years now, and I think it’s time to try to generate some income from it. Unfortunately, I don’t have a niche, which seems like its a requirement to pull any income from the web.
Can income be earned without a niche?
Hi Maki, I always enjoy reading your posts,
Here’s two questions that might be useful for coming up with story ideas:
1. Why is my subscriber count higher than my daily visitor count?
For me, I have coming on 1,000 subscribers (with over 200 daily reach and about 500 story views according to FeedBurner, so they are not all falling down some black hole somewhere) yet about 850 visitors on average. Most other sites seem to run on a 5:1, 10:1 or more ratio or readers to subscribers, so how do I leverage my RSS readers to improve my search rankings?
2. Can one make money with affiliates and retain one’s scruples?
I saw a post on Digital Point of someone making good money from two particular affiliate offers, but a quick web search turned up a site that suggested both companies were engaged in dubious (and quite scary!) aggressive billing techniques. In addition, many of the Clickbank, Commision Juction et al software and ebooks are barely worth the electrons they are printed on, but with commision rates of 50% being not uncommon I don’t trust reviews I see, and I couldn’t honestly recommend any to my readers without feeling guilty about it. (I actually did have a cunning plan to sell one software product with a MyBlogLog trick, but after trying out the software for a while I realised it was terrible and people were only pushing it for the 50% commission. I still haven’t seen anyone exploit that trick, so if you want details, drop me a line…)
I would like to see you take blogs belonging to your commenter’s and write about how they could be improved.
Do you make money online other than blogging?
If got other online ventures,
What is the mechanism of making money online from your other online ventures other than blogging?
By mechanism, I mean for example this blog makes money through unique quality content, then attract visitors and subsequently monetize the traffic through Adsense advertising and affiliate sales.
Maki how many hours do you spend a day to put out such a quality product?
Hi sir,
just want to ask if it is normal to have an average $0.03
per click from my adsense earnings?
Thanks
I recently discovered your blog through Stumble, and have enjoyed reading your materials.
I have monetized my main site with a few things, and am pleasantly surprised to see my Adsense click dollars starting to add up already. I should have done this years ago :/
Anyway…..keep up the good stuff….us rookies appreciate the insight!
regards
Maki,
Thanks for the opportunity to ping you with a few questions. Here’s mine:
Why do you remain anonymous behind the anime imagery and single “Maki” name? Why not reveal yourself in name, photo, etc. so that you can build your personal brand and increase your potential consulting fees, either now or after you have finished school? While I completely understand anyone’s desire for and right to privacy, why contribute so much value to so many people here at Dosh Dosh, yet not allow the halo to build around you as a human being with a name, image, etc.?
Thanks,
Logan.
