When I first started Dosh Dosh, I decided to use an Adsense Wordpress template that was designed with the primary goal of maximizing ad earnings. I wanted a Wordpress theme with distinct ad blocks so I can easily blend contextual or other types of affiliate ads alongside my main content.

As you probably know, effective ad placement is critical if you plan to make any significant amounts of money through Google Adsense or other contextual ad systems.

Converting visitors that stumble upon your blog from search engines, other blogs and social websites into loyal blog readers is challenge for any blogger. The ability to establish a cohesive and supportive user community is a key element which leads to monetary success for blogs and the businesses they might promote.

Kathy Sierra of Headspace recently suggested in her article that blogs or businesses achieve real success by merging their interests or content focus with the interest of their readers.

The main reason why I clicked on the ad was because I am a regular reader of Seth Godin’s blog. After clicking on the ad, I was taken to a webpage which immediately requested for my resume and credentials. Talk about super targeted Adwords traffic!

Do you want more traffic and links to your website? Perhaps you’ve got a lucrative affiliate program that you’ll like to promote. Or maybe you just want to increase the number of readers for your new blog or boost it’s reputation in a specific niche.

Here’s a solution. Try creating an “Ultimate Collection or Guide” for a specific topic. If you can provide a comprehensive list of a large collection of resources, people will link to and visit your website.

I was recently leaving a comment on another blog in regards to MyBloglog (MBL) and decided to leave the URL for Dosh Dosh’s MyBloglog community instead of doshdosh.com. This was because I wanted the owner of the blog to have easy access to my community page. Looking back, I thought that this would be a great method which you can use to promote your MyBloglog community or increase the number of readers who subscribe to your blog.

How do you implement this super easy method?

Richard Miller has just released his What Would Seth Godin Do (WWSGD) Wordpress plugin, which is designed to increase your number of RSS subscribers through the use of cookie-based messages that remind each reader to subscribe to your blog feed.

Very useful for repeat visitors to your blog because they’re very likely to subscribe if you just give them a gentle nudge in the right direction. Here’s his explanation of how the plugin works:

I’ve been researching on how blogs can be used as a means to promote affiliate programs because I’m pretty interested in how blogs seem to have some natural potential for building stable and long-term relationships between the affiliate and the customer.

Blogs grow over time and their accumulated content is a gold-mine for search engines and the targeted traffic they bring. While contextual Ad networks like Adsense are effective, passive ways of earning money from a blog, I think affiliate programs are superior in many aspects, particularly in terms of long-term profit.

I don’t remember where I first came across this tip but I do remember reading that it’ll helped some people get a higher Click Through Rate (CTR) for the ads on their website. I’m not too sure if it actually works for everyone but I do think that it’ll definitely make your ads blend in better with text and media. This Adsense hack works by removing the ‘Advertise on this site‘ text that shows up with every Adsense unit on your website.

Brian Gilley of SEOPosition has accused me of stealing content, images and ideas for my recent article on paid blogging websites. Now this is something that really pisses me off because his allegations are completely false and I really dislike the fact that he singled me out and accused me of something I didn’t do at all.

The fact that he published a post on his website stating that this is so as prompted me to write this detailed reply on Dosh Dosh.
