Doshy Link Attack! Reddit, Ebooks, Linkback Schemes, Bloggst and Internet Marketing

make-money-online-now.jpgIt’s been a while since I had another addition of Doshy Link Attack! There’s been a lot of good material to read lately but I’ll try to make this edition short. I’m also going to make this a weekly weekend feature so if you have any awesome posts on topics similar to this blog, please send me an email and let me know.

I’m always eager to read good material and share it with the readers of Dosh Dosh. If you haven’t gotten into the habit of sharing your favorite links, why not start as soon as possible?

Linking out adds value to your readers, gets your blog noticed by other bloggers and is basically the best way to help another blogger get more readers. If you think they deserve it.. give them a little push by sending them a link. I’m sure they’ll definitely appreciate it.

Let’s start with me! I wrote a detailed article on how to use Reddit for 10e20 a few days ago. The article specifically examines how you can use Reddit to built traffic to your website and includes some tips on getting on the Reddit homepage. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Like Digg or StumbleUpon, getting on Reddit’s frontpage can result in a large amount of traffic to your website. This allows you to rapidly create brand exposure for your business or establish a long-term reader base for your blog.

Garrett Albright has writtin in depth about the devious ways bloggers make money. He goes through money making methods such as Agloco, Inline text advertising, affiliate programs and paid posting. I liked how he analyzed Kontera/IntelliTxt and suggests that they break the rules of user-computer interaction. On the topic of Intext advertising:

There’s a few reasons why I believe they’re bad for readers. One, for unsavvy readers, they may look like “real” links…The barrier that should exist between advertising and content may not be broken completely, but it is definitely degraded to an uncomfortable amount.

Ben Yoskovitz tells us how to write great headlines that attract blog readers, search engines and the Digg crowd. Interestingly enough, the article was made popular on Digg. Some great tips from Ben here.

Failing to write a great headline is tantamount to ignoring your audience. Even if your blog is extremely personal in nature, a journal only your friends read, and search engines or digg are not of real concern, it doesn’t matter. Great headlines are about people, whether you have an audience of 5 or 5,000,000.

Vlad has written a short article on PRWeb vs PPC, which compares the effectiveness of Pay Per Click advertising and Press Releases in affiliate marketing promotional campaigns. He concludes by suggesting that both methods can be holistically used together in any promo efforts.

I’ve never really invested much time in PRWeb because PPC is so conversion-friendly that I didn’t bother. But PRWeb looks like a good avenue to explore.

But as with any business in affiliate marketing it is not good idea to place all the “eggs into one nest, and there were few times last year that Google helped us to understand this truth.

If PPC is working well for you, you should continue to make of it as much as you can, but don’t overlook other avenues of promoting your wbesites.

Philip Liu is holding “101 Great Postâ€? project where you can you get a link back from his blog. I’m seeing a lot of these “link to me to get a link back” schemes going around the web. I don’t really like designating how people should link back.. but it seems to have been rather successful for several bloggers. Maybe I should try a variation of it?

Your blog can be about any subject. When I get 10 Great Posts, I will publish a post that links back to all the blogs in that set. I intend to categorize the Great Posts into categories the same as the 101 Great Posts list so that we can all go back and look at examples for inspiration.

Lars-Christian has recently set up Bloggst, a swanky looking blog forum and has suggested that he’ll change his real name to Bloggst if more than 10,000 people register and make at least one post in the forum by the end of 2007.

10,000 is a huge number for any forum and I doubt it will be possible. But, sign up and share the word if you think Bloggst is a cool name for Lars. Good PR stunt :)

Yes, I admit it, I am crazy, but I also have my reasons for doing this. The most important factor is that I honestly believe in my own project, and this is a way of proving just how much

I’ve been reading Mike Perry for some time and he always manages to give a balanced and honest opinion to all types of money making programs. His recent post on how to make money with free blogs best illustrates his mission statement of making money without any capital outlay at all. A good two-part series to read.

Some tips from Mike on content optimization:

Refer to previous posts (with links) whenever the opportunity arises. We don’t just want visitors to come to our blogs. We also want them to linger for as long as possible. The longer they stay the more opportunity there is that they will see something that will make you money - an ad, an affiliate program and so on.

Singer Christine Kane as a post about the 18 Stupid Mistakes Bloggers Make in their First Year. I think ignoring the blogging community is the most important mistake on her list. Reaching out to the fellow bloggers in your niche through links is oh-so-very-important.

I’m no longer a blogling. I have matured. Pretty soon my blog will need Botox. Or Viagra. Or both. I’ve learned more this year about websites, blogs and the internet than I ever thought I’d want to learn. Lots of what I’ve learned, I’ve learned through my mistakes. Some of what I’ve learned, I’ve learned from other people’s mistakes.

Yaro Starak has a post on how to start an eBook business in five steps. Good info if you’re into interested in starting your own eBook empire. Apparently, this is the model Daryl and Andrew Grant used to generate over $250,000 in passive income during their first year in the ebook business. Lucrative field, apparently.

On a side note, If you’re planning on writing or promoting a crappy eBook on making money online, beware of Wicked Fire Jon. I’ll also suggest sending visitors to this very awesome link every time someone tries to sell or promote a silly get-rich quick eBook on your blog or favorite forum.

Some notes from Yaro on creating an eBook:

It is quite clear that the content creation step is largely in response to market needs. Once you find pressing problems people have, you search for experts that can solve the problems and compile their knowledge and expertize into a book. All that work is done by other people, you provide the strategic direction and instructions.

That’s all for now.. have a great weekend everyone!
